It is quite ironic that I was told to write about the worst moment I have seen about my topic. I just finished watching the Florida State vs. Clemson football game, and let me just say it was one of the worst games I have seen Florida State play in a while. The Seminoles ended up losing the away game, 35-30.
There were quite a few costly penalties for the Seminoles during the game that definitely affected the outcome and led to a Clemson win. The first costly penalty I saw was a “Roughing the kicker” penalty against the Seminoles in the first quarter which ended up leading to a Clemson touchdown. One quarter later, there was another “Roughing the kicker” penalty on the Seminoles which led to another Clemson touchdown. Clemson led after the first half 21-10, because of two major penalties by Florida State.
Fast forward to the fourth quarter, the score is 35-30, Clemson is winning but the Seminoles have the ball with 1:30 to go in the game. It’s 4th down and 4 yards to go to get the first down, if the Seminoles don’t make it than the game is over. The quarterback, Clint Trickett, is about to hike the ball but a wide receiver goes offsides and a “False start” penalty is called. The Seminoles lose 5 yards on the play and are unable to get the first down the next play, which results in a Clemson victory. Overall, I think the Seminoles lost the game because of penalties and sloppy play, Clemson was the better team in this match-up and deserved the win.
