Out of the three drafts I wrote, I decided to choose the “Heightened Reality” draft. I picked this one because I thought it was the most interesting and I felt I could actually write a full 8-10 pages about this certain story. With the other two stories I wrote, I felt like I was almost running out of material to write even when the length had to be only two pages. For example, while I was writing the “Slice of Life” story, I was thinking to myself, “There is no way I will be able to write another six pages on just this topic.”
My workshop mates also agreed with me that my “Heightened Reality” story was the best out of the three and that I should choose that one. The draft I chose was definitely the one I expected to choose. While I was writing this draft, I knew it was going to be the most interesting one and the one I could get the most material out of. If I could not write my top choice, I would probably choose the “Not of This World” option. I thought this was much better than my “Slice of Life” story, but nowhere near as good as my “Heightened Reality” story.
